The Challenge

Leisure centres operate complex Ground Source Heat Pump systems serving high-demand environments such as pools, gyms, and changing facilities. These systems must deliver consistent heating and environmental control while operating for extended hours and under fluctuating loads.

Without a structured approach to maintenance, monitoring, and controls optimisation, sites can experience reduced efficiency, increased wear on plant, and limited visibility of system performance. There is also a growing need for longer-term planning to manage costs and protect critical assets.

What We Deliver

We provide a structured maintenance, monitoring, and controls optimisation service for leisure centre energy systems, designed to maintain performance, improve efficiency, and extend asset life.

Technical Scope:

  • Planned preventative maintenance programmes aligned with site operations
  • Detailed performance testing of heat pumps, ground loops, and associated plant
  • Inspection and maintenance of circulation pumps, heat exchangers, and system components
  • Controls health checks and optimisation to ensure systems operate in line with design intent

Remote Monitoring & Digital Services:

  • Optional remote access for continuous performance monitoring and alarm management
  • Pre-visit system analysis to review plant behaviour, operating modes, and sensor accuracy
  • Cloud-based dashboards for visualising trends, alarms, and system performance
  • Secure remote connectivity to support rapid diagnostics and ongoing optimisation

Key Technical Activities:

  • Heat pump performance checks including flow, pressure, electrical and refrigeration health, temperature differentials, and COP verification
  • Ground loop assessments including pressure checks and fluid condition monitoring
  • Circulation pump inspections covering condition, performance, and electrical integrity
  • Controls validation including sensor calibration, I/O checks, and BMS interface testing
  • Identification and correction of control issues affecting sequencing, efficiency, or system stability
  • Ongoing data analysis to support performance improvement and lifecycle planning

Results

✓ Improved System Resilience: Regular inspection and testing reduce the risk of failure in high-demand environments

✓ Enhanced Performance Visibility: Measured data and reporting support informed optimisation and asset management

✓ Optimised Operation: Control improvements ensure systems respond effectively to varying leisure centre demands

✓ Digital Oversight: Remote monitoring enables faster fault response and continuous system insight

✓ Predictable Maintenance Costs: Structured programmes support long-term budgeting and operational planning
